Community & Social Development

Reading Rangers

A community service-based programme, developed in association with the Kokrobitey educational team that seeks to develop peer group teachers, by equipping high school students with -phonics and other tools that enable them to engage children in the process of learning to read while simultaneously learning to think.

Reading Rangers are high school students, doers, artist and earth-conscious storytellers. These young people are change-makers who are keen to make a difference. They are dedicated to learning with children using storytelling, and play to advance conversational English, reading, and critical thinking.

Reading Rangers collaborate with professional educators in developing lessons and activities whose content engages children in the process of discovery, by using text and resources relevant to Ghana’s history, cultures and natural environment.

Ahaban – Green Leaf Foundation

Our work with Ahaban involves collecting clothes, shoes, books and toys for donation at their numerous events. We also volunteer at the workshops where children are taught various skills like bead making, tie and dye printing and craft.

Ahaban GLF is a humanitarian organization, built on a growing network of volunteers & donors. Together we work to improve education & healthcare in communities across Ghana.

We do this by initiating long term projects that will help achieve the general UN Sustainable Development Goals in quality education, good health and well being as well as providing donor and volunteer support for other organizations.

Kokrobite Chiltern Centre

With the support of the British International School, Ghana, Think3ice donated over 20,000 plastic bottles to the Kokrobite Chiltern Centre. The bottles were used in their drive to build a reading centre by adapting and using these bottles as bricks.

The Kokrobite Chiltern Centre was originally the idea of Jane and Martial Zohoungbogbo. Jane first came to Kokrobite in February 2004 and quickly realised that there was a need for a facility that could support those children that were not attending school and also to help educate and empower some of the women of the community.

Martial Zohoungbogbo has been living in Kokrobite for twelve years and is well known in the local community. He has seen for himself how much the situation has deteriorated in that time.
